HORIZON 2020 | AEROFLEX project with participation HAN-AR was approved

The overall objective of the AEROFLEX project is to develop and demonstrate new technologies, concepts and architectures for complete commercial vehicles that are energy efficient, safe, comfortable, configurable and cost-effective, while ensuring that the varying needs of customers are satisfied by being flexible and adaptable with respect to the continuously changing operational conditions. These new configurable truck concepts which are beyond the state of the art should meet the future logistics and co-modality needs to be met for the different segments and markets. The project commences on October 2017 and will run for 3.5 years.

Frankfurt Airport (FRAPORT) recently invited HAN Automotive Research to participate on Frankfurt Air Cargo Innovation Lab in September 2017. Here the concept of “Drone Assisted Truck Navigation” will be presented: A drone supports the driver while parking a freight vehicle combination towards the distribution center terminal. Moreover, a physical demonstration will be given using a scaled truck/trailer combination, programmed by the HAN MBD toolset, consisting of HANcoder and HANtune (www.openMBD.com). The intention is to promote the concept and further expand a consortium to apply for a INTERREG NWE framework project. Consortium members that are currently interested are: FRAPORT, MAN, MY RIO, Uni Furtwangen, Imsys, Realtime Visions, NHL and Avular.
