Please contact the HAN BioCentre for the possibilities. There are sufficient supervision and facilities to give you the chance to develop to your full potential.

Minor BioRefinery

Do you want to know more about Biodiscovery and the Biobased Economy and do you have affinity with microbiology or fermentation technology? Then this minor is for you!

This minor (specialization exchange course) is developed by the HAN BioCentre to students to get acquainted with Biodiscovery and the Biobased Economy. During the minor you learn more about how biomass can be used as a direct or indirect source of biomolecules. Which biomolecules are present in biomass? How can interesting substances (protein, enzymes, oil) be produced from biomass by fermentation? How can you analyse what you have produced? These themes are explored extensively in this in-depth minor.

The first few weeks focus on acquiring the theoretical background knowledge, supported with small experiments. After this, you work for 10 to 12 weeks on your own project. The projects are almost always part of a large research themes within the HAN BioCentre and give you the opportunity to participate in current research.

Part-time studies

  • Master in Molecular Life Sciences
    This part-time master is developed by the HAN BioCentre. This masters programme is aligned with the complete process of biodiscovery. You develop competences for doing research for product development in different areas of biotechnology. Graduates can work independently on projects at a company or research institutes, or start their own company. The knowledge and the interdisciplinary approach that students there to learn, is continuously checked against the needs of work field.
