The 20th June will see over 2000 scientists from Caenorhabditis elegans labs across the world gather in Los Angeles, USA for their biannual conference. Samantha Hughes (HAN BioCentre) will be heading over to represent the HAN BioCentre. She will give a presentation on the latest research on the health effects of tart cherry juice, using the worms as a model. She will show that C. elegans has a lifespan extension when exposed to tart cherries. Working with Karin Struijs, Samantha Hughes will also highlight which flavonoids and anthocyanins in tart cherries provide the health benefit to worms, and by association humans!
