Dutch International InScience Film Festival – No Facts No Future

31 oktober 2017

The Dutch International InScience Film Festival runs from the 8th to the 12th November in Nijmegen. This is an event for members of the public to interact with scientists and get some hands-on experience of what it is like to be a scientist! The HAN has three events here. Two groups from the HAN BioCentre will be running a Do It Yourself Lab on Thursday afternoon (1-6pm) in the Mariënburg kapel, opposite the Lux Cinema.

The worm DIY-lab, you can learn about the microscopic worm Caenorhabditis elegans and how it smells different chemicals. Can you spot the mutant worm that cannot smell? At the same time, you can learn about another project run in the BioCentre - how can a yeast convert paper waste into oil. Additionally, on Thursday evening, after the film Food Evolution (715pm) Frans Wilms will be running a discussion on CRISPR-Cas technology and its use in genetically modifying food.
