Plagiarism

Plagiarism is the practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own.
To prevent unintentional plagiarism SURF has made a quick reference guide on plagiarism.

Ouriginal

To prevent students from copying and pasting their assignments without reference, we have been using Ouriginal at the HAN since 1 December 2021. This software helps assess the authenticity of submitted work. Ouriginal is integrated in Handin (the HAN-wide application for the digital submission and digital assessment of summative assignment-related tests). A submitted paper is automatically scanned for similarities with university papers, online articles and other internet sources. This requires no extra action from the student. An evaluater can view the Ouriginal report via Handin.
