What are personal data?

‘Personal data’ are all data that can be traced back to a natural (living) person. In the diagram, you will find an overview of the characteristics and data that are seen as personal data and ‘sensitive’ personal data.

What is processing?

Processing is a collective term that covers a number of things. When we talk about ‘processing’, we mean the collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaption or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, aligning or combining, blocking, erasing or destroying data; in short, everything that can be done with data.
